How We Do "Getting Ready Shots"
As pretty as the "getting ready shots" may look in photos and videos in reality that is one of the most hectic parts of the wedding day. Normally it looks like soda, alcohol, shoes and half dress women running around the room. With tardy Make-Up Artist. And sprinkled throughout the room maybe chip bags, clothes and phone chargers everywhere. I don’t even want to paint the picture of how the dudes rooms be.
Before Entering the Room
One thing we try to implement when we first arrive to the ladies suite, as they are getting ready is, My wife or a women second Shooter knocks on the door and greets everyone and lets them know Me(the male photographer/Videographer) needs to come in. She then makes sure they are fine with that and not exposed in anyway. Anytime when dealing with opposite genders we try to be more cautious about how we approach the room.
TiDY UP
We then figure out what angle of the room we will shoot at and make sure we tidy up anything inside that frame that can be distracting and take away from the beauty of the bride and Bridesmaids. Only thing we ask is for the Individuals to move their own undergarments. Once they are ready we get "getting ready shots" and robe shots if they are requested by the bride. I then leave so the bride and the ladies can put on the dresses. My wife will then help the bride if were doing video to hook the microphone in the inner lining of her bra cup.
Go in Pairs
I normally head to the men's suite then and knock on the door and introduce myself and make sure that they are not exposed especially If my second shooter with me is a gal or if i'm not available then the gal staff travel in pairs. After that we get the men shots. I Later get word from my wife when the bride and bridesmaids are dressed and we get the zipping shot with her mom or parental figure but before I enter back into the women’s headquarters I make sure its safe to enter. Those are some parameters we try to stay in to operate with integrity. Because here at lens Photography we care about what you care about.
